Goa Carnival showcasing the eclectic cultural mix that the Portuguese and local strains create making it state different from the rest of India…... so jazzy, so lively! Mingle in the riot of colours as the festivities and celebrations continue for 3 days non- stop!
In the days of yore a Portuguese tradition of an annual festival- held four days before the start of Lent- began, where the white colonial rulers pretended to be 'black' slaves, and the slaves, mostly from Mozambique, plastered their faces with flour and took on the role of the masters. The local Konkanis watched in amusement- as they still do, to some extent, whenever a feni-befuddled tourist tries joining in the fun.
The vibrant musical parades and lavish floats are the major highlights of the carnival today. The festive aura fills every corner of the state. Both men and women are elated. They put on fancy clothes and colourful masks and dance to the music that Romans earlier danced on. The state capital, Panjim brims with an escapable aroma of overwhelming fun. Live performances and dances that continue till the night add to the celebrations. The Red and Black dance is a perfect way to wind up the Carnival.
You can also witness a different carnival spirit altogether as you drift towards the villages of Goa. Within the rural areas you will see a group of village dancers 'mell' encircled around an oil lamp, shaking to the beats of the drums. They sing songs praising their ancestors. The loud and fast tempo of drumming makes the dance even more energetic. Doses of fenny increases the fun manifold.
You may plan your holiday as per plan given below.

A Journey, an experience with Wild Lions of Asia. Explore Gir.. the only place in Asia where wild Lions are found.
Location: South West of Saurashtra, Penisulla in Gujarat.
About Gir
A Safari through jungles in Gir, takes you the lair of Asiatic lions at Gir National Park. No words can describe experience of real life encounter with the majestic sight of Asiatic lions in its natural habitat or the ear drum shattering roar of the King of the Jungle.
Best sightings can be experienced from October to April, as this is the best time of dusk/dawn; lions get restless and energetic and therefore they ought to come out.
Savor the visibility of other animals like Chital, Chinkara (Gazelle), Four-Horned Antelope (Nilgai), Leopard, Hyena, Nilgai, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar and Wild Ass. Monkeys, Parrots and peacock can also be seen around the forest. Adjacent to the Sihn Sadan is the Crocodile-Rearing and Research Center, where hatch-lings are reared and then released into their natural habitat.
